Outback icon and recent Tamworth Hands of Fame inductee Tom Curtain keeps the good times rolling with the release of his earnest ballad, ‘Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us Now’.
The mid-tempo slow burn serves as the title track to Curtain’s recently released fifth studio album, which hit #1 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart. The album was highly anticipated thanks to its lead single ‘Why We Live Out Here’, reaching the #1 spot on the Country Tracks Top 40 Airplay Chart and remaining in the mix for over 9 months.
The horse trainer from the Territory admits a love song is new ground for him as a songwriter. “I wanted a song about the idea that love conquers all. We all have our own battles, but I have learnt that none of that matters when the person you love is right by your side.”
To find the perfect lines he teamed up with ex-Sherbet keyboardist and revered songsmith, Garth Porter. “It was an inspiring process writing this with Garth Porter, throwing ideas back and forth on a topic I would usually stray away from. With his guidance we created something pretty special that I hope resonates with you.”
Porter, who has produced giants like Lee Kernaghan, James Blundell, Gina Jeffreys and Sara Storer, also recorded and produced the single at his Sydney studio, Rancom St Studios.
When the Live Beef Export Ban decimated his horse training business overnight in 2011, Curtain dreamed up the now wildly successful, Katherine Outback Experience (KOE). A family fun attraction that won Gold in 2022 and Silver in 2023 for Best Tourist Attraction at the National Tourism Awards and has been awarded Best Tourist Attraction in the NT for the last four years.
The show, which combines horse and dog training with audience participation has also become a staple of Curtain’s touring act. The show has proved to be incredibly popular, as Curtain has just returned from 70+ date national tour and now performs daily at the KOE. Having also supported Sara Storer and The Sunny Cowgirls and performed at the 2023 Man From Snowy River Bush Festival in Corryong, Curtain is certainly seasoned on the stage.
With over 4.6 million total Spotify streams and two Golden Guitar awards under his worn belt buckle, Tom Curtain has proved he creates music that connects and endures. ‘Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ shows a welcome new side to the troubadour, while showcasing his trademark authentic songwriting.
