Tom Curtain is a finalist at the 2018 Southern Stars Australian Independent Country Music Awards

It’s been a busy year for Tom who won two Golden Guitars in January, got married, and is now a finalist in three categories at The Southern Stars – The Australian Independent Country Music Awards.

His Golden Guitar winning duet with Luke O’Shea, Never Never Land, is a finalist in APRA AMCOS Australian Independent Country Music Single of the Year, while Territory Time has snagged two finalist positions in APRA AMCOS Australian Independent Album of the Year and Capital News Australian Independent Male Vocalist of the Year.

“I’m really excited to get back to the Mildura Country Music Festival,” Tom said.

“I was born in Mildura and left there when I was two, but have played at the festival a few times. I’m absolutely blown away by the support and reception people have given me, particularly being away from the industry for a few years.

“It’s just been so humbling because a lot of the songs I’ve written are from my personal experiences and people I’ve met travelling around my country, but other people have such a great connection with them as well.

“The more we travel around, the more people come to the Katherine Outback Experience shows, I’m finding they want to escape their own lives for a while, kick up their heels and lighten the mood and a lot of my songs are upbeat and positive.

“I think it’s also because I’m living and working what I’m singing about, so everything’s real.” The Southern Stars are presented in Mildura on October 6.

Tom’s Territory Time Album is available on iTunes and the Katherine Outback Experience Online Shop.
